Sacred Space – Entry Lobby
This renovation of the entry lobby for an existing sacred building creates a space of warmth and welcome. The building serves a large, but closely-knit, religious community, and it is their “sacred home.” A curved wood wall and ceiling tie the space together, from end-to end, incorporating the reception desk and a display area for sacred relics. The glass entry vestibule is flanked by an art gallery on one side and a seating area with water wall on the other. The overall feeling is sculptural and organic, with earth-toned furniture and finishes, including “pebble” lights fabricated of hand-blown glass. The sound of water creates an atmosphere of solace, obscuring the sounds of the city outside.
